Las SalinasThe salt lakes between the port La Sabina and the village Es Pujolls lies in the middle of the nature reserve that borders on the different sandy beaches. La MolaThe only mountain of Formentera where you have a panoramic view of most of the island. On top of it lies the village El Pilar with a renovated windmill. La Mola lighthouse stands on top of a steep rock and gives the most beautiful light of the Mediterranean. Jules Verne, the great French writer found here his inspiration for one of his novels. Es CalóA typical fishing village with some good fish restaurants. Here you can find the typical sheds for the fishermen boats with their wooden inclines to lift the boats into the water. From the terrace of Fonda Rafalet you have a beautiful view over the coast of Formentera and the island Ibiza. On walking distance of the village lies a little sandy beach. FormenteraThe smallest island of the Balearics is also the most pure island with the most beautiful beaches and the brightest sea water. Formentera emits a silence which is very unprecedented along the Spanish coast, but also a very cosy island. On all the beaches are little beach bars or restaurants where you can escape the sun during the siýsta. The most are open until sunset, a natural phenomenon that is nowhere as beautiful as here. Formentera and the island Ibiza are called "Pitiusas", a term originated from the Greek that means "through pine trees covered islands". On almost all beaches nudist recreation is authorized, a typical expression of the natural atmosphere. The sister island of Ibiza was discovered in the seventies by the hippies because on Ibiza it became to busy for them. Formentera will never be approached by the masses as every visitor has to travel by sea because there is no airport. However there is enough entertainment in the evening in many restaurants, in the world famous Fonda Pepe and in the village Es Pujolls. Formentera is an ideal island to enjoy it on a bike because of the small dimensions and the flat landscape. This romantic paradise let you enjoy of its long sandy beaches, crystal clear sea, beautiful sunsets and magnificent starry skies.
