Ibiza-town
Eivissa is the Catalan name for the island as well as the capital. This city was built on a hill, on the edge of the sea and established 650 years B.C. by the Carthaginians. The white houses from the popular neighbourhood Sa Penya, the monumental Renaissance wall from the XVI th. century which surrounds D'Alt Vila and the Cathedral are the eye-catchers of these cheerful port town. In the evening the narrow alleys are full of strolling visitors along the terraces and bars.
San José - Es Cubells - Cala d'Hort
San José is a cosy village that lies strategic in comparison to Ibiza town and the most beautiful beaches at the Southwest coast of the island. Besides the shops and boutiques there are nice bars with tapas and restaurants. Around Es Cubells that lies right under San José, you have a splendid view over the coastline of Ibiza. From the terraces of 2 fish restaurants in Cala d'Hort you have a spectacular view of the island Es Vedra.
Santa Eulalia - San Carlos - Cala Llonga
Santa Eulalia is the third largest town of the island Ibiza. There is an old centre with narrow alleys and a lively marina with bars and restaurants. In wintertime this is one of the most lively places of Ibiza. The little village San Carlos is famous of Anita's Bar with the P.O. Boxes for the surrounding country houses. Most hippies lived around this village in the sixties and Las Dalias still offers a weekly hippy market. Cala Llonga is a little bay with a sandy beach between the high rocks.
San Juan - San Miguel - Benirrás
San Juan is a village with a relaxed atmosphere and a traditional charisma. It is also the place where the still present hippies and bohémiens meet each other. Famous island inhabitants like Nina Hagen live around San Juan and at the moment this is the place to be on Ibiza. The village San Miguel you can see by far because of the little white church that stands on top of the hill. The idyllic beach Benirrás that lies closeby is in summertime the scene of a weekly evening with drums on the beach.
San Lorenzo - Balafi - Santa Gertrudis
The location in the middle of the island is for the country houses surrounding the little village of San Lorenzo a perfect place for everyone who liked to enjoy the peaceful silence in the daytime, afterwards to enjoy the fantastic nightlife. Nearby lies the settlement Balafi with her characteristic tower. A nice village is Santa Gertrudis, where you can find along the main street a boutique, an antique shop and some good bars with tapas and restaurants. At midday this is a lively place with a mix of locals and hippies.
San Rafael
The little white church of the village San Rafael you can see by far if you come from Ibiza town. Beside the church lies one of the most famous restaurants L'Elephant. Because of the central location on Ibiza you find here also 2 of the most famous clubs of the island namely Amnesia and Privilege.
